Last week, June 27, 2012 to be exact, ATLANTIC-ACM, a boston-based strategic research and consulting services to the telecommunications and information industries, held its annual Business Connectivity and Wireless Business Excellence Awards reception. Hosted at the Yale Club of New York City, the awards were based on results from the 2012 Business Connectivity and Wireless Business Report Card, which rates carriers in key product and service categories based on approximately 3,800 individual carrier ratings.
While in attendance, key companies – many whom were recognized – included Cablevision, Cogent, Fibertech, Level3, Sprint, TW Telecom and Windstream. Sidera Networks was also noted among the award winners for its consistency in delivering excellent customer service to its business customers in the Financial services, healthcare, media and wholesale markets.
Dr. Judy Reed Smith, who presented the awards, invited key industry players – old and new. At the event was the founder of Arbinet (founded in 1996), Alex Mashinsky who is now a serial entrepreneur and the Managing Partner of Governing Dynamics, an early stage venture capital firm. Along with Arbinet (acquired by Primus Telecommunications Group International), he founded several other companies including GroundLink in 2005, Transit Wireless in 2004, Elematics in 2000.
Another notable person in attendance was Melissa Craig, the Founder and CEO of General Telecom,the first and global-leading independent provider of tier one partition switching and network management services.
