September 6, 2012 brought exciting news about Egenera, a provider of physical, virtual and cloud management and automation software, and NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading technology provider of strategic IT and communications solutions, as they announced the availability of Egenera’s flagship software, PAN Manager(R), on NEC’s SIGMABLADE System in the North American market. The software was launched after both organiations signed the global intent-to-deliver agreement in October.
PAN Manager not only provides automated provisioning, disaster recovery services and high availability for both virtual and physical servers, but it also simplifies the management of IT. With all that PAN Manager has to offer, the product has led to improvements in IT service levels for its customers. Vice President of NEC Enterprise Technologies, Mike Mitsch, commented on the product stating, “This solution with advanced failover functionality ensures our customers have a cost-effective, flexible and reliable solution for their mission critical operations.”
The second component of the agreement involves, NEC’s SIGMABLADE. This product provides a foundation for mission-critical enterprise infrastructure and allows for “optimal server consolidation.” Pete Manca, CEO of Egenera is looking forward to this partnership. “We are excited to be partnering with NEC and grow our relationship as we enable customers to leverage the NEC Nblock to build out a rock solid foundation for their clouds.” PAN Manager on NEC SIGMABLADE will include a failover functionality (server staging), enabling a fast failover.
