Data Economy, a complete source for news, thought-leadership and industry insights from across the IT infrastructure, data center, cloud and data space, recently released a Power 200 List of the world’s most influential data economy leaders. This Power 200 List is an initial installment of a bi-annual, global list of industry innovators and influencers carefully curated to showcase the top individuals throughout the world, spearheading new strategies, launching new technological breakthroughs and charting new paths.
At iMiller Public Relations, we never pass up an opportunity to celebrate the success and accomplishments of our industry peers, especially those included in our client family. iMPR was thrilled to see a lot of familiar faces pop up on the Power 200 list, so we’d like to take some time to highlight and congratulate a number of our clients that made an appearance.
Jonathan Berney, COO of Chayora Limited, is up first. With over 25 years of international business, property development and construction experience, Jonathan, along with his extensive expertise, was instrumental in launching Chayora’s new data center in Tianjin, China. This data center is the first of nine on the 300MW, 80-acre hyperscale campus and boasts 3,000 to 3,600 racks at 10kW average IT load per rack. The facility also provisions customers with high-speed (up to 1 Tb/s) point to point dedicated connectivity to any location in the Beijing/Hebei/Tianjin tri-province area.
Richard D. Calder, President and CEO of GTT Communications, was also featured on the list. Bringing over two decades of experience to the company, Richard utilizes his unique industry insight to propel GTT to new levels of operational and strategic success. Just recently, GTT announced an expansion of their global media transport services for ATP Media, providing state-of-the-art broadcast technology and enriching audience experience. This step is just one of the ways in which GTT underpins their reputation for connecting people across organizations, around the world and to every application in the cloud.
Next is Garry Connolly, Founder and President of Host in Ireland. As a much sought-after keynote speaker, moderator and panelist for global events throughout the industry, Garry has appeared in numerous conferences across the globe. With over 30 years of hands-on experience in the data center industry, he has also been recognised as one of the top 50 EMEA Influencers in Cloud and Data Centres 2017 by Data Economy, and was runner up in the 2017 DCS Awards’ ‘Data Centre Individual of Year’ category
Peter Hannaford, Founder and Chairman of Datacenter People, being the only recruiter on Data Economy’s list, truly demonstrates his unique talent and focus on a critical facet of data centers- their employees. Hannaford has worked with data centers for nearly 40 years and has developed a keen understanding of the complexities of hiring in that space. With Datacenter People and Portman Partners, which focuses specifically on C-level executive placement, Peter has formed the leading talent sourcing firm for the datacenter sector worldwide with offices in London, Singapore, Tampa and Dublin.
Karl Kuchel, CEO of Macquarie Infrastructure Partners, who will be acquiring Bluebird Network, is also part of the Power 200. Macquarie’s acquisition of Bluebird works to facilitate the future of communications infrastructure, helping to meet the growing needs of end users by leveraging Bluebird’s high-bandwidth fiber solutions as an essential backbone of high-performance networks. By connecting rural areas to major cities, this collaboration will ensure that underserved markets will have access to a variety of top-tier network services.
Of course, there are so many more outstanding individuals topping out this list, including Phill Lawson-Shanks, Chief Development Officer of Aligned Energy; Josh Snowhorn, Founder and CSO of EdgeMicro and Chris Downie, CEO of Flexential, we wish we could give a nod to them all. From all of us here at iMiller Public Relations, cheers to everyone, clients and beyond, and thank you for your outstanding contributions to our collective pursuit of bigger and brighter horizons.
