In a significant move towards meeting the growing demands for digital infrastructure demand in Europe, Start Campus, Europe’s largest colocation data center development underway, has partnered with Siemens Energy to bring the next phase of the company’s SINES DC project to life. This collaboration will see an investment of over €20 million in state-of-the-art transformers, powering the SIN02-06 buildings with capacity of up to 1.2 GW SINES DC campus in Portugal. This critical step marks a major milestone in delivering sustainable, reliable, and scalable power solutions to one of Europe’s largest data ecosystems.
Investing in the Future of Digital Infrastructure
The SINES DC campus, set to become operational in 2026, represents a new generation of data centers. The SIN02 building alone will offer up to 180 MW of IT capacity, designed with reliability and redundancy in mind. Siemens Energy’s advanced transformers are a key component in ensuring the uninterrupted power supply necessary for today’s data-driven world.
But this partnership is about more than just power. It’s about setting new industry standards for sustainability. The integrated engineering solutions provided by Siemens Energy will not only meet the stringent availability requirements of Start Campus’s customers but also offer the flexibility to incorporate renewable energy sources. This aligns perfectly with Start Campus’s vision of a greener, more connected future.
