Nominated for “Excellence in Wireless Neutral Host Networks”, Boldyn Networks enables the largest free outdoor public Wi-Fi network in the U.S.
Walter Cannon, VP of Connected Cities & External Affairs, will discuss closing connectivity gaps in underserved communities across NYC.
New York – October 24, 2023 – Boldyn Networks, one of the largest neutral host providers in the world, is shortlisted for the “Excellence in Wireless Neutral Host Networks” at the U.S. Broadband Awards. Winners will be announced on November 16th, 2023, during the U.S. Broadband Summit in Washington D.C.
Through their partnership with CityBridge, Boldyn Networks’ network infrastructure powers the LinkNYC program to address the need for ubiquitous wireless connectivity across New York City. The company deployed over 2,000 LinkNYC kiosks throughout the five boroughs to provide residents with free public Wi-Fi.
With over 1.5 million New Yorkers lacking the proper home or mobile connectivity, access is critical. Boldyn Networks’ infrastructure enables New Yorkers with free accessible services and enhanced connectivity.
The LinkNYC project is the largest free outdoor public Wi-Fi network in the US, providing free Wi-Fi, US calling, USB charging, along with other services. The first of its kind, these structures offer a multitude of benefits to businesses, residents, and visitors.
In addition to their award nomination, Walter Cannon, VP of Connected Cities and External Affairs for Boldyn Networks’ US Business, will be joining the “Leaders’ Roundtable: Addressing the Urban Digital Divide” session at the U.S. Broadband Summit.
The speakers will discuss public-private partnership models to address connectivity gaps in the nation’s cities. They will share their insights regarding the policies and programs that drive digital adoption, enrollment and knowledge. The speakers will also explore the implications and successes of scaling digital infrastructure within unconnected urban communities. This session will be held on November 17th from 10:10 – 10:50 a.m. ET.
Boldyn Networks expects their shared infrastructure initiative to continue to grow in the coming years. They plan to install over 2,000 next-generation LinkNYC structures throughout NYC’s five boroughs, bringing the total number of connected-locations to over 4,000 citywide.
