May 1, 2015 – Cable Bahamas today announced that they are one of the two finalists in the auction for the 2nd mobile license in the Bahamas. This will give it the capability to provide voice, data, video and mobile throughout the Bahamas. David Van Dyke the Vice President of Customer Fulfillment states,” We are the leader in providing video services and in two years we’ve taken significant share of the fixed voice market in the Bahamas. Our customers have been very eager to have competition. We plan to leverage our extensive fiber optic network to quickly deploy a network capable of handling both volume and speed. If we are successful in obtaining the mobile license we plan to be equally aggressive in taking market share in the mobile space.”
Cable Bahamas has also expanded its footprint into Florida with its acquisition of Summit Broadband. Peter Murray, Director of the Carrier Program, relates, “Our network in Southern Florida touches key international hubs such as the NAP of the Americas and the Globenet facility and extends to Central and Western Florida. This enables us to provide Ethernet, Private Line and Voice Termination at very high quality and very competitive rates in Florida and the Bahamas.”
