Established as a 501(c)(6) non-profit industry association and an Accredited Standards Developer (ASD) of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), OIX, formerly known as Open-IX, has been at the forefront of shaping the future of internet interconnection. This milestone anniversary not only reflects on past achievements but also signifies a commitment to ongoing progress and excellence in the years ahead.

Over the past decade, OIX has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have significantly influenced the global internet infrastructure landscape:

Standard Development: OIX has developed four ANSI-recognized standards, setting benchmarks for industry best practices in internet interconnection.

IX BCOP and GitHub Accessibility: The IX BCOP, a crucial resource for industry professionals, is now easily accessible on GitHub, fostering greater transparency and collaboration.

Certification Milestones: With over 75 certified Internet Exchange and Data Center locations, OIX’s standards have been widely adopted, leading to enhanced interconnection practices globally.

Community Engagement: Through its Board of Directors and committees, comprising over 30 and 50 members, respectively, OIX has harnessed collective expertise to drive its mission forward effectively.

Interconnection Navigator Tool: The launch of the Interconnection Navigator tool offers valuable insights into industry trends and growth, showcasing OIX’s commitment to data-driven decision-making.
