America’s fastest growing data center company, EdgeConneX®, recently announced a new partnership with TelNet Worldwide (TelNet) to open Michigan’s most advanced, state-of-the-art Edge Data Center® in the city of Southfield. The Tier III facility will provide a competitive advantage to businesses in Southeast Michigan, combining EdgeConneX innovation, including purpose-built design, advanced engineering and rapid deployment capabilities, with TelNet’s strong reputation and local expertise, enterprise and wholesale service offerings, and customer service focus. EdgeConneX’s facility in Michigan is one of 14 Edge Data Centers (currently operational or under construction), and is poised to launch in November 2014.
Strategically selected for its rich fiber density, vast power and proximity to Michigan’s technology hub, the Detroit area represents another Edge Data Center location vital to EdgeConneX’s mission of reshaping the way the Internet functions. EdgeConneX is creating a new edge of the Internet by designing and deploying Edge Data Centers that are strategically positioned nearest to network provider aggregation points, ensuring the lowest latency data delivery as well as improved quality of service. The company also strives to create a balanced ecosystem serving the needs of the entire marketplace, partnering with TelNet to provide colocation, managed services, virtualization and data storage at its Michigan Edge Data Center location.
The new facility in Michigan, as well as all Edge Data Centers, also boasts a new and proprietary online data center infrastructure management system (DCIM) that provides real-time visibility into each data center’s operation. This DCIM monitoring tool will be customized for TelNet’s use in providing service to its customers.
