Digital RealtyOver the last few years, cloud adoption has soared to unprecedented heights. Its widespread acceptance can be attributed to a number of trends, including a growing volume of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, business and government entities placing more of their mission-critical workloads into the cloud, and the growing need for businesses to connect to customers no matter where they are located.

The growth in cloud-based deployments is further compounded thanks to cloud technology’s ability to optimize users’ application performance, to enable faster service and data delivery, and to improve overall operational efficiencies. The numbers speak for themselves. According to a recent report by research, analysis and advisory firm IDC, the global cloud market is predicted to top $118 billion in 2015. Furthermore, experts estimate that 76 percent of data center traffic will be cloud traffic by 2018.
