Host in Ireland Founder and President, Garry Connolly, to Discuss the Impact of the GDPR

DUBLIN – 1 June, 2017 Host in Ireland, a strategic global initiative created to increase awareness of the benefits of hosting digital assets in Ireland, and winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, today announces its Showtime sponsorship and participation at Datacloud Europe 2017, taking place 6-8 June at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.  Host in Ireland Founder and President, Garry Connolly, will participate on a panel discussing the impending General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation in the European Union.

On Wednesday, 7 June, at 16:10 p.m., Mr. Connolly will join executives from techUK, Eversheds Sutherland, LuxConnect and HPE for the panel session, “The Brave New World of GDPR.”  As the GDPR Awareness Coalition Co-Chair, Mr. Connolly has made it his mission to help companies and individuals better understand GDPR legislation.  During this panel session, Mr. Connolly will draw upon his two decades of entrepreneurial and executive experience within the Irish data hosting industry to help educate attendees on how the GDPR will affect any and all global companies that process personal data of EU citizens.

“It’s paramount for organizations throughout the world to have a clear and comprehensive understanding of what is required of them with the coming GDPR legislation,” explains Mr. Connolly.  “It is my hope to provide Datacloud Europe attendees with some insights into why the GDPR matters and why, in advance of the onslaught of connected devices, it could be our last chance to lay down the cement for this anticipated growth.”

Following its 2016 win, Host in Ireland has once again been selected as a Datacloud Awards 2017 finalist for the category Data Center Location.  Ireland has proven itself to be an optimal location for digital assets hosting, boasting a unique blend of regional features known as the “5 Ps” (policy people, pedigree, pipes and power).  Given the high availability of world-class connectivity, technologically advanced infrastructure, and new regulations for the management of data, digital assets hosting now serves as the cornerstone of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) throughout Ireland.  The 2017 Datacloud Awards winners will be announced during a ceremony and dinner on the evening of 6 June in Monaco.

Alongside premier partners CBRE, EdgeConneX®, Future-tech and Primary Integration, Host in Ireland will also be a featured organization in the “Irish Pavilion,” an exhibit focused on the advantages of the Irish hosting ecosphere.  The Pavilion will be located in the conference exhibition hall where attendees are welcome to meet with any of the participating organizations.

In addition, Phill Lawson-Shanks, chief architect and vice president of Innovation, EdgeConneX and Host in Ireland Executive Committee Member, will participate on two panel sessions at Datacloud Europe, including “Addressing the Many Faces of Edge Computing,” and “How Colocation Data Center Meets the Ever-Changing Requirements of our Rapid-Paced Digital Economy.”  Furthermore, executives from several Host in Ireland partner companies will speak at the event, including CBRE, CommScope, Digital Realty, Equinix, Interxion, Schneider Electric, and Siemens.

In its 13th year, Datacloud Europe is the continent’s premier global IT infrastructure and cloud event.  The global congress and exhibition converges leaders within the cloud and data center community to discuss the current and future challenges facing the industry, including energy consumption, the Internet of Things (IoT), colocation at the edge, and related services and technologies. About Host in Ireland

Host in Ireland, winner of the Datacloud Europe 2016 award for Innovative Data Center Location, is an industry-led marketing initiative that provides timely and accurate information about Ireland’s digital asset hosting ecosystem at all times including demonstrating why Ireland is more cost-effective, efficient, reliable, secure and accessible than most other regions across the EU.  There’s a reason companies like Microsoft, Zendesk, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Adobe and beyond have sought to host their solutions in as well as to/from Ireland.  Many of these reasons are immediately realized due to access to affordable power, redundant network and bandwidth capacity along with a variety of data center providers that offer an array of services sustained by the “5 Ps”: Policy, People, Pedigree, Pipes, and Power.  On top of that is a very attractive business management structure, implemented by Ireland, which is keenly interested to bring new businesses into the market.  Ireland supports this initiative through attractive fiscal structures, access to a skilled workforce and full support of the U.S. Safe Harbor and Patriot Acts – ensuring data asset compliance for companies large and small.  For more information about Host in Ireland, visit www.hostinireland.com.
