While the many buzzwords, like the Internet of Things (IoT), edge, hyperscale and beyond, are flying, the data center industry is at work trying to navigate, pivot and prepare for the future before it even arrives. When it comes to planning where the chips may fall, there is much to discuss. Luckily, PTC’19’s panel, titled Edge-Capable Data Centers: The Next Wave, explored exactly that. This Center Stage Session gathered eminent industry minds, including the CEO of Chayora, Oliver Jones, to discuss the realities of where the data center industry is moving and how it’s getting there. Moderated by Anthony Rossabi, Executive VP and Chief Revenue Officer for Tierpoint, the panel also included Todd Coleman, CEO and President of Estruxture Data Centers and Tom Brown, President and CEO of DataGryd.
On this panel, Jones leverages his unique perspective, formed by his experience in China, the second largest economy in the world, to discuss the importance of supporting edge implementation, developing future-proof infrastructure and choosing markets based on cost of ownership, performance and power.
