NEDAS Live! presents Episode 27: ESG and Creating a Culture of Sustainability featuring Bernard Borghei, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Operations at Vertical Bridge, with the program’s host Ilissa Miller, President of NEDAS. During the program Bernard Borghei and Ilissa Miller discuss the growth of the telecommunications industry, current industry ESG initiatives and how Vertical Bridge became the world’s first carbon-neutral tower company. If you’re not familiar with the company, Vertical Bridge is the nation’s largest privately owned  manager of wireless communication infrastructure, and is leading the industry in sustainability initiatives while increasing awareness of diversity in the workforce. 

In Episode 27, Bernard discusses the great growth of the telecom industry that exploded during the COVID-19 pandemic, which speaks to the critical nature of wireless communications. The growth of the industry has put an emphasis on the company’s ESG initiatives, which is a critical component of Vertical Bridge’s company culture. Bernard shares that companies do not need to sacrifice probability in order to “go green.” While remaining profitable, Vertical Bridge became the first power company in the world to become carbon-neutral in 2020. Vertical Bridge is committed to being environmentally responsible with its next goal of becoming net-zero in the years to come. 

During the program, Bernard shared insights about Vertical Bridge’s commitment to company culture, diversity and inclusion. Vertical Bridge has seen great success in attracting the younger generation to the telecommunications industry due to its ESG initiatives. The company is dedicated to causes, offering charity contributions to organizations selected by employees. Bernard expresses the importance of recognizing that Vertical Bridge offers a wide range of employment opportunities and that the telecommunications industry “is an industry that basically touches every aspect of a professional career.”
