In response to growing demand from other regions, the Open-IX Association (OIX) has recently announced that OIX Certification is no longer limited to Northern Virginia; data centers and Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across North America can now apply for IXP OIX1 and DC OIX2 Certifications. In order to initiate the certification process, each candidate must submit an application that includes a deposit and processing fee. Once the application has been reviewed by the OIX executive board and is accepted, the entity is required to complete a compliance report to ensure adherence to OIX data center and IXP technical requirements.
