Executive Director Gabe Cole to Speak on Panel Focused on Managing Data Center Load Balancing, Edge Locations and Networks
BLOOMINGDALE, MI, USA – December 9, 2015 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a 501(c)(6) non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces that its Executive Director, Gabe Cole, will speak at the AFCOM Symposium NYC 2015, to be held December 10 at the Convene Conference Center in Times Square, New York.
Mr. Cole will participate in the panel “Facility Juggling: Managing Load Balancing, Edge Locations, and Networks,” taking place at 10:10 AM. The panel will explore how single-facility data center operators must learn to shift loads in order to maintain high performance and keep systems available for end-users at all times. The discussion will also address the best methods to share loads between areas of single data centers, how to take advantage of multiple fiber providers for maximum performance, and how to pass loads across geographically-dispersed data centers to serve users across the country. With “edge” data centers fast becoming a top-of-mind topic in the industry, the panel will also examine the factors that come into play when choosing the best location for satellite facilities, as well as how to set up networking between your primary and secondary data centers, and various methodologies to maintain availability, performance and maximal efficiency through utilization across a complex, geographically disparate data center network.
A one-day event, AFCOM Symposium NYC 2015 provides data center and facilities management professionals in the New York City-New Jersey metro area with deep-dive educational sessions and invaluable networking opportunities. The Symposium is designed for anyone involved with IT, data centers and disaster recovery solutions, including data center facility owners, operators and managers, as well as supervisors and engineers on the front lines. The educational program is divided into three blocks with sessions ranging from “Best Practices for Operating a Data Center” to “Can Liquid Cooling Reduce or Eliminate Water Usage?” to “Data Centers Today,” the closing session, during which participants will vote on topics to explore in the data center environment happening today.
Organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet, the Open-IX Association is dedicated to increasing the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all.
