According to ABI Research, in-building wireless data traffic will grow at a double-digit rate over the next two years to reach 53 exabytes per month worldwide in 2020. With more than 80 percent of all traffic predicted to originate or terminate indoors, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and mobile equipment vendors remain poised to benefit from this traffic explosion. Meanwhile, Research and Markets reports 5G is on course to be the next game-changer in the global digital connectivity ecosystem, reaching a value of $251 billion by 2025. The main driver of 5G is the ever-increasing demand for an enhanced mobile internet experience, and the technology will address rising bandwidth requirements, demand for advanced application services and improved acceptance of the Internet of Things (IoT).

As the technology landscape undergoes a major transformation with the introduction of 5G and the proliferation of IoT systems and applications, the Northeast DAS & Small Cell Association (NEDAS) is working to prepare the wireless and wireline community by continuing to offer a platform for education and networking among industry professionals. In the interest of broadening the reach and influence of the association, NEDAS recently announced the appointment of Steve Yapsuga, Director of Sales – Eastern U.S. at Comba Telecom, as Co-Chair of the NEDAS Advisory Council.

“I am excited for the opportunity to further serve the wireless community as the Co-Chair of NEDAS alongside Ilissa Miller,” said Mr. Yapsuga.  “NEDAS is experiencing incredible success and well-regarded as the open forum for discussion and the exchange of valuable ideas amongst my fellow esteemed peers. I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive continuous educational breakthroughs that meet the growing needs of our ever-changing industry.”

As the association’s Co-Chair, Mr. Yapsuga will work closely with members of the Advisory Council to utilize their core areas of expertise in ways that will enhance awareness and meaningful education throughout the organization. The NEDAS Advisory Council is comprised of industry thought-leaders from various enterprises and organizations who help shape educational programs, identify growth opportunities, and facilitate expansion of the Association into new markets. A founding member of NEDAS, in his new role, Mr. Yapsuga will work alongside incumbent Advisory Council Chair, Ilissa Miller, President of NEDAS, and Founder and CEO of iMiller Public Relations.

Mr. Yapsuga is a tenured business and marketing technologist leader in the wireless industry, with expertise across multiple disciplines, including enterprise DAS, in-building public safety, smart city infrastructure, and small cell industry segments.  Prior to his current position at Comba Telecom, he worked at TESSCO Technologies for more than a decade in multiple roles, including business and market development.

“I am delighted to welcome Steve to his new role as NEDAS Advisory Council Co-Chair, and look forward to the value he will bring as we work to advance the scope and reach of NEDAS,” stated Ilissa Miller.  “Bringing with him a sense of urgency, energy and passion for the development of the Association, Steve is a seasoned expert within the wireless industry who will no doubt serve as an immediate asset to our mission of providing the DAS and Small Cell industry with access to networking and increased educational opportunities within a positive, non-partisan environment.”
