At a time when the data center industry is experiencing unprecedented growth and transformation, Sabey Data Centers (SDC), known for its expertise in designing, building, and operating multi-tenant data centers, has announced a major leadership change. Tim Mirick, a veteran of the company since 2012, has stepped into the role of President, effective January 1, 2025. This transition marks the end of Rob Rockwood’s eight-year tenure as President and heralds a new era for the Seattle-based data center giant.

Mirick’s ascension to the presidency is not unexpected. Having served as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer since 2012, Mirick has been instrumental in shaping SDC’s national go-to-market strategy. His leadership has been crucial in driving the leasing of the company’s expanding data center portfolio, which now boasts over 300 MW across five campuses, including strategic locations in Ashburn, VA, Seattle, WA, New York, NY, and Austin TX.

Rob Rockwood’s departure marks the end of a significant era for SDC. During his eight-year tenure, Rockwood led the company through a period of substantial growth and innovation. Under his leadership, SDC solidified its position as one of the largest data center developers in the United States, with more than 3.5 million square feet of space constructed and operated. Rockwood’s legacy includes not only physical expansion but also a commitment to sustainability and customer-centric solutions. His leadership background, which includes time both in the US Army and the power industry, offered a unique perspective to the data center business, emphasizing the importance of reliability and efficiency.
