Total Telecom’s World Communication Awards program is widely seen as one of the most prestigious events in the industry. This year, thousands of votes were cast for nominees across 21 categories.
On November 28, a special ceremony was held in London for this year’s award winners. One individual who was recognized was Rick Calder, CEO of GTT Communications, Inc. Mr. Calder was named “CEO of the Year.”
GTT appointed Mr. Calder as its CEO and president in May 2007. Since then, GTT has increased its annual run-rate revenue from $50 million to about $1 billion. What’s more, in 2017 GTT completed multiple acquisitions including Global Capacity and Hibernia Networks, and introduced a unique SD-WAN solution that utilizes the company’s own Tier 1 Internet backbone and affordable range of Internet connectivity options.
It’s been an exciting year of recognitions for GTT. In 2017, the company was placed on the Fortune Future 50 list of organizations that are best suited for breakout growth. Plus, GTT was named to Deloitte’s 2017 Technology Fast 500™ list and named Company of the Year at the Leading Lights awards.
Mr. Calder recently offered his thoughts on what it means to take home CEO of the Year.
“The CEO of the Year award is a tremendous honor that I accept on behalf of the entire GTT team,” Mr. Calder said. “Our dedicated, talented and hard-working team has driven our explosive growth as we deliver on our purpose of connecting people across organizations and around the world.”
