UnitasWith its long-standing reputation as a leading provider of enterprise cloud solutions,  Unitas Global provides clients with custom, highly secure cloud-based IT environments that are easy-to-consume and fully managed. The company recently announced the availability of its newest Enterprise Cloud service built on OpenStack Liberty.  The move provides fully-managed and hosted cloud services to enterprise organizations looking to take advantage of open source hybrid cloud computing without traditional vendor lock-in and the challenges associated with building and operating production-grade cloud environments.

The enhanced security features including secure data messaging, encryption and physical separation of tenants, as well as full SOC2, ISO: 27001 and HIPAA compliance are some of the many key features of Unitas’ new Enterprise Private Cloud service built on OpenStack Liberty. Other highlights include deployment validation, performance testing and benchmarking, bare metal and virtual machine management as well as full visibility into the OpenStack environment via Unitas’ AtlasTM unified monitoring platform, native container management (Kubernetes, Docker, Swarm, and Mesos), tremendous scalability and geographic reach through use of Nova compute cells, uniform configuration management, and enterprise-grade reliability and stability.

Over 50% of enterprises are expected to deploy hybrid cloud solutions by 2017 as more enterprises look to meet growing needs for greater agility, scale and intelligence. That is not to say that there will not be challenges met along the way. A lack of necessary implementation, monitoring and management tools or resources, security and compliance concerns inhibit these critical migrations in both new companies and experienced outsourcers alike — thus the need for hosted cloud providers like Unitas.  And while OpenStack streamlines the migration to open, hybrid cloud computing, the software must still be combined with numerous other components including the data center, network, compute, storage, operations and management to obtain a production-grade private or hybrid cloud necessary to support enterprises globally.

Unitas Global’s Founder & CTO, Grant Kirkwood, called OpenStack’s 12th release “a significant milestone in terms of technical maturity and enables even more enterprises to make the move to open, hybrid cloud computing environments.” He went on to say that “Unitas helps architect and guide enterprise customers through deploying and operating custom OpenStack environments to create open, dynamic and production-grade clouds without the complexity and hassle associated with going it alone.”
