Taking place May 23, 2017 in London, the Global Telecoms Business Telecoms Innovation Summit, Showcase and Awards gathered mobile operators, carriers, service providers, equipment manufacturers, and application developers to share and recognize successful collaborations in the telecoms industry that demonstrate innovation in their respective sector. Successful collaboration and innovation involves more than just a great idea, of course. To be truly game-changing, it must result in the implementation of a complete solution.

Aqua Comms DAC and Megaport (USA) Inc, the US subsidiary of Megaport Limited (ASX: MP1) demonstrated this principle in their joint win of a Global Telecoms Business (GTB) award in the Innovative Infrastructure category. The companies were recognized for their partnership whereby Megaport accesses Aqua Comms’ America-Europe Connect (“AEConnect”) system and enables elastic interconnection to its transatlantic subsea cable network.

As a result of this innovative pact, customers can rapidly provision services including direct cloud connections and Point to Point transport between the U.S. and Europe, each way, to enable multi-cloud, multi-region, and hybrid cloud architectures. In keeping with all Megaport enabled networking services, customers can consume elastic bandwidth on the Aqua Comms system and pay only for what they use. Moreover, given the dynamic nature of global enterprise business, organizations can readily adjust bandwidth according to their changing requirements.

In accepting the GTB award, Aqua Comms CEO Nigel Bayliff commented, “We’re extremely honored to receive the Global Telecoms Business award for Innovative Infrastructure in recognition of our partnership with Megaport. Cloud growth, along with the increase of Over-the-Top content and webscale providers, is driving the surge in global data traffic. Our partnership with Megaport, which enables its customers to rapidly connect their network to cloud services and data centers across the world via elastic interconnection to AEConnect, points not only to the increasing importance of submarine cables, but to how collaboration leads to innovation.”

Meanwhile, Vincent English, CEO of Megaport, remarked, “Megaport’s partnership with Aqua Comms enables enterprises to utilize subsea capacity in an unprecedented way. Enterprises are increasingly architecting for multi-region, multi-cloud deployments. Through our joint solution, customers can right-size capacity to their business requirements and enable rapid scaling of connectivity for their cloud-based applications, while bypassing the internet for improved security and predictable performance. Aqua Comms has proved itself the ideal provider of transatlantic bandwidth to deliver these critical connectivity services.”
