Wilcon Receives SSAE 16/SOC 1 Type II Attestation and HIPAA Security Rule Compliance Report

LOS ANGELES, July 5, 2016 — KirkpatrickPrice announced today that Wilcon, a fiber optic and data center infrastructure provider, has demonstrated through an independent review of their information security control structure, their compliance with the SSAE 16/SOC 1 Type II Audit Standards, as well as the HIPAA Security Rule. The completion of these engagements provides evidence that Wilcon has a strong commitment to deliver high quality services to its clients by demonstrating they have the necessary internal controls and processes in place to protect consumer data and comply with industry standards and regulations. In a SOC 1 Type II Report, the Independent Auditor evaluates the Service Organization’s control systems relevant to the client’s internal control, reports on management’s description of the Service Organization’s system and the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of the controls throughout a specified period of time, and offers a description of the tests of the controls and results of the tests. SSAE 16 provides CPAs with guidelines for evaluating, testing, and reporting the controls of the Service Organization, which are then used by their clients’ auditors to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls at the service provider, relevant to their own control environment. Intended to aid Service Organizations in eliminating potential errors to client information, the standard ensures efficiency in their controls. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Security Rule is a...

FiberLight Announces New Fiber Construction to Connect Texas Networks

On July 26, 2016, FiberLight announced that the company will continue to invest in its Texas-based network. Moving forward, FiberLight will provide low-latency transport to growing rural communities across Texas. The expansion will establish additional low-latency connectivity between its Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston (DASH) footprint, and areas across the western part of its network including Amarillo, Abilene, Midland, Lubbock, Odessa, San Angelo and surrounding areas. The project will enable direct high-bandwidth transport capabilities into data centers in Houston and Dallas, as well as across FiberLight’s southeastern network. The expansion will be a major asset for regional service providers and enterprises located in western Texas. “FiberLight continues to invest in Texas to meet the growing demand for state-of-the-art fiber infrastructure from business communities throughout the state,” stated Jim Lynch, FiberLight Chief Executive Officer. “Relocation, expansion and innovation drive broadband needs in Texas.  FiberLight is at the forefront of providing secure and flexible fiber optic services to meet this rapidly increasing demand.” FiberLight first began expanding its network in 2012. Since that time, the company has provided high-capacity optical transport services and dark fiber to local underserved school districts, regional data centers and businesses. FiberLight’s wide network reach and high-bandwidth infrastructure have also been advantageous for local carriers and utility companies. “By connecting our West Texas network directly into Dallas, FiberLight is taking yet another step to tie the 10,000 miles in its...
