A growing number of telecommunications providers are expanding their network services to support the long-term development of smart cities.
Infrastructure service provider SQUAN, for instance, recently announced the acquisition of Communications Specialists, Inc. (CSI). As a premier builder of fiber cable and copper solutions, as well as a leader in aerial and underground construction services for the telecommunications and cable TV industry, CSI will help SQUAN fulfill a critical element in its overarching growth strategy, including smart city development and operation of heterogeneous networks.
In the near future, the CSI brand will become SQUAN Fiber Infrastructure Solutions. SQUAN’s newest division will continue to operate from its main office in Fishkill, NY. The organization will continue to be led by its President, Ken Stabler, who will report to CEO Duane Albro.
SQUAN has begun the process of adding skilled personnel and supporting construction assets across its growing footprint.
“CSI stands out as leader in quality and is a growing provider of services that are highly complementary to the current business in which SQUAN is engaged,” stated Duane Albro, Chief Executive Officer, SQUAN. “We see tremendous long-term value by incorporating these synergies. Our combined companies will leverage cross-functional skills across each of our service lines as we layer new skills onto our ever-expanding geographical footprint.”
Ken Stabler, who is currently serving as CEO of CSI, also commented on the agreement.
“We share SQUAN’s vision of becoming a complete end-to-end network infrastructure provider,” explained Stabler. “Together, we form a world-class company providing leading-edge solutions with an emphasis on quality and safety for our customers.”
