Recognition highlights Lightpath’s expanding fiber footprint as demand for AI-ready connectivity infrastructure accelerates
New York, NY, June 23, 2026 – Lightpath, a 100% fiber infrastructure company operating 12,100 route miles of AI-grade networks across 11 U.S. metro markets, announced today that it has been recognized in the Challenge Tier of Vertical Systems Group’s 2025 U.S. Fiber Lit Buildings LEADERBOARD, a benchmark that tracks providers with significant on-net fiber connectivity to commercial buildings and data centers across the United States.
Lightpath was one of only seven providers named to the 2025 Challenge Tier, which includes companies with between 5,000 and 24,999 U.S. fiber-lit commercial sites. The designation reflects Lightpath’s continued investment in expanding its fiber network and supporting growing demand for high-capacity connectivity across enterprise, carrier, hyperscale and data center markets.
The recognition comes as organizations increasingly invest in the infrastructure required to support artificial intelligence, cloud adoption and data-intensive workloads. According to Vertical Systems Group, installations of commercial fiber circuits and lit buildings increased throughout 2025 as providers expanded networks to support lower-latency, higher-bandwidth applications driven by AI.
Lightpath continues to expand its fiber network and connectivity capabilities to support enterprises, carriers, hyperscalers and data center operators as demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity continues to grow.
Vertical Systems Group’s annual U.S. Fiber Lit Buildings LEADERBOARD ranks providers based on the number of on-net fiber-lit commercial buildings and data centers connected to their networks nationwide.
