AquaComms Prepares for Official Deployment of AEConnect

Aqua CommsGet ready…. Get set… Aqua Comms Limited (AquaComms) recently announced a major milestone in the deployment of its America Europe Connect (AEConnect) subsea fiber optic system.  With help from TE SubCom in Newington, New Hampshire, the state-of-the-art cable system is being loaded onto the cable-laying ship Reliance, and it’s cause for celebration.  To commemorate the official launch of AEConnect’s installation phase, guided tours of the TE SubCom factory and ship were held in Newington last week.  The subsea cable system is on schedule to be ready for service by the end of December 2015.

Spanning more than 5,400 km beneath the Atlantic Ocean, AEConnect will link Points of Presence (PoPs) in North America and Europe when complete.  The cable will also feature branching units for future landings and will interconnect with Irish Sea subsea cable CeltixConnect to provide extended connectivity to the U.K. and greater Europe.

AEConnect will revolutionize connectivity between the continents utilizing the latest Software-Defined Network (SDN) technology and a design capacity of 130 wavelengths at 100 Gbps on each fiber pair to provide global data centers, cloud-based networks and content providers a low latency and high reliability solution to satisfy their growing trans-Atlantic capacity requirements.

Achieving $130 Million USD in pre-sales to date, AquaComms, TE SubCom and their foundational customers and investors have worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality, and are officially seeing the fruits of their labor.
