Excitement continues to grow surrounding the ARBR submarine fiber optic cable system, which will connect Argentina and Brazil, and is being jointly developed by Seaborn Networks and the Werthein group. This new cable network will allow for direct onward connectivity to New York over the Seabras-1 system, providing a low-latency route between the financial and commercial centers of São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and New York.

Xtera has been selected to be the supplier of the new ARBR subsea system, a 2,700 km cable with 4 fiber pairs, 48Tbps and direct PoP-to-PoP connectivity.

“This award further consolidates Xtera’s position as a strong player in the regional submarine market segment and is a significant endorsement of Xtera’s differentiated product offering,” said Stuart Barnes, Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer at Xtera. “Our four pillars of product and service offerings encompass subsea systems technologies, wet and dry upgrades, IP licensing, and OEM / specialist units to selected markets. Xtera is further defined by its flexible approach to system-partnering and contracting structures that ensure the best value for investment and a solution aligned to each customer’s need.”

The ARBR subsea cable system, which is fully funded and on an accelerated implementation schedule, will use Xtera’s field-proven submarine repeaters built with hybrid EDFA-Raman design, for an optimized transmission system. Together with Xtera’s Open Systems Gateway, this transmission system will give Seaborn and its customers the true freedom of choice for selecting its preferred terminal supplier. All of these elements, including the Power Feed Equipment, are managed and monitored by Xtera’s best-in-class Network Management Systems.

“We are thrilled by the opportunity to work with Seaborn Networks on this exciting project,” stated Robert Richardson, Chief Sales Officer, Xtera. “We pride ourselves on being market disruptors and innovators, and we see these same characteristics in Seaborn. It is especially rewarding to work with a kindred spirit company, and very satisfying to see a company such as Seaborn making use of our available technology to provide the market with a truly compelling offer.”

Xtera provides repeatered and un-repeatered subsea connectivity, offering the highest bandwidth undersea amplifiers at up to 40 Terabits on a single fiber pair. Xtera offers a range of subsea solutions and services, including system design, landing route and station development, on-shore and off-shore security and operational support.
