DE-CIX, the world’s leading Internet Exchange (IX) operator with the fastest-growing IX in the New York metro area, has recently announced their status as the largest Carrier and Data Center-Neutral Internet Exchange in New York. This accomplishment comes as a result of DE-CIX exceeding the key milestone of 200 unique Autonomous System Number (ASN) networks. Accentuating this milestone is the fact that nearly 50 percent of these networks (which equates to 95 ASNs) are exclusively available via DE-CIX in New York, while 75 of the networks are exclusive to North America via DE-CIX New York.

DE-CIX’s capabilities are bolstered by their GlobePEER Remote solution, a turnkey VLAN connection service to DE-CIX Internet Exchanges throughout Europe. This service allows networks connected to DE-CIX New York to peer with networks locally connected on the company’s European Internet Exchanges, bypassing the need for purchasing transport, a remote port or even a local cross-connection. More specifically, networks connected to New York either through a local Point of Presence (PoP) or over transport to the New York IX can leverage a connection to DE-CIX Frankfurt, the largest IX in the world by peak traffic. This benefit extends access to more than 850 additional networks. Customers can also reap the benefits of connections to a number of other DE-CIX IXs, including strategic locations in Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, Marseille and Istanbul. These connections enable connectivity to hundreds of other networks.

DE-CIX New York, one of the two IXs managed by DE-CIX in North America, is also the only Open-IX certified and carrier and data center-neutral Internet Exchange in the market. DE-CIX Dallas, the second DE-CIX North America location, is the region’s fastest-growing carrier and data center-neutral Internet Exchange. The Dallas IX enables improved network performance for operators throughout the Southwest and Mexico, as well as those local to Dallas, via transport connections.

The company has accomplished this major milestone in just four and half years, which serves as a testament to how their neutral exchange model, with its partnership opportunities, can transform a market. The successful DE-CIX model has enabled the company’s New York IX to become the leading platform in New York and the second largest exchange on the Eastern Seaboard. This achievement further upholds DE-CIX’s goal of data center enablement through enhanced service capabilities and connectivity and aids in the mission of making New York the premier interconnection location in North America.
