EdgeConneX and Fibertech Networks bring low latency fiber connectivity to SE Michigan
E-commerce titan Amazon has calculated that a sales drop of 1 percent will result for every 100ms of website loading delay that occurs. As both fixed and wireless data consumption explodes, led by the insatiable appetites of the end-user, high bandwidth, low latency network access is essential. To further this goal EdgeConneX is building out its Edge Data Center (EDC) network with a new facility in Southfield, MI. In keeping with EdgeConneX’s mission of bringing Internet content closer to the edge of the network, customers in the area will now be served locally, instead of remotely from Chicago. The region will gain a fully redundant, bandwidth-intensive solution offering the lowest possible latency to ensure the quickest and most efficient method of content delivery. This new facility will offer both dark and lit transport access at speeds of up to 100Gbps.
EdgeConneX provides a full suite of data center solutions and specializes in hosting content as close to the end user as possible, at the edge of the network. The company provides Space, Power & Connectivity for content, network, colocation, CDNs and service providers, as well as wireless carriers, telecommunications companies, and commercial property owners.
Fibertech Networks is a leader in providing fiber-optic based network services throughout mid-size cities in the Eastern and Central regions of the United States. The company currently owns and operates a fiber optic network of more than 12,000 route miles, which contains more than 9,800 on-net locations with nearly 4,000 cell sites.
