Data center provider EdgeConneX® recently announced a new partnership with SummitIG to bring dark fiber connectivity to its Edge Data Centers® (EDCs) in Richmond and Norfolk, VA. The newly launched Richmond EDC will receive the new fiber infrastructure first, offering customers enhanced agility, security, and performance coupled with options for direct interconnection to Ashburn, Reston or Vienna on SummitIG’s lowest latency, 100% underground, unique fiber route on the I-95 right of way. For maximum redundancy, SummitIG will build directly into EdgeConneX’s Richmond EDC via its diverse building Points of Entry (POEs).
SummitIG’s dark fiber connectivity within EdgeConneX’s purpose-built and precisely located Virginia EDCs provides content and service providers with a higher level of connectivity, security and performance for content delivery closer to the edge. Local consumers, enterprises and Internet customers throughout Northern Virginia will now have access to high quality content delivered faster, as well as seamless disaster recovery and cloud options for Ashburn, VA.
