Demand is surging for data center and colocation services in North America. The market is growing at a CAGR of 11.72 percent, and over the next two years 57 percent of digital businesses plan to increase their data center outsourcing.

One company that has emerged as a leader in this space is interconnect Miami (iMDC), a carrier neutral data center and colocation provider located in downtown Miami. To keep up with the demand, iMDC is now seeking a new Director of Sales who will be responsible for implementing and executing an actionable sales plan. This individual will also be responsible for managing the company’s marketing strategies, and developing and maintaining customer relationships. The Director of Sales will be based in Miami and report to iMDC’s CEO.

iMDC offers power, space and connectivity for organizations operating in the telecommunications, optical transport, server, storage, cloud, hosting and IP business sectors. iMDC also owns and operates a high-capacity fiber network and duct system in downtown Miami providing connectivity to multiple communications facilities across the area.

It’s an exciting opening at iMDC, as the Director of Sales will be heavily immersed in both business development and day-to-day sales and marketing initiatives, including managing all sales and marketing for space, power, cabinets, cross-connects, dark fiber and ducts, remote hands, and general data center and colocation services.

At the same time, the Director of Sales will manage a full team of account executives; manage the activities and production of iMDC’s sales agents; assist the company’s Data Center Manager, engineers and technicians in creating secure and affordable custom communications solutions; develop contracts for data center, colocation and fiber network services; establish marketing leads to generate new customers and provide documentation and reports for all customer activities.

There will also be opportunities to participate in trade events and industry activities to promote sales and grow iMDC’s brand name and contact base. Other key responsibilities will include helping plan for future development and site expansion; assisting iMDC operations staff with customer problems and system repairs on a 7/24/365 basis; managing and leading change to minimize network downtime; and communicating with customers during installations.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who is comfortable managing and working with sales professionals and agents, as iMDC is actively trying to build a collaborative team environment. The Director of Sales will be instrumental in recruiting, developing and retaining staff, and for partnering with senior management. This individual will define and communicate annual goals, perform both formal and informal performance reviews and make sure that changes and updates are delivered in a timely and professional manner. The Director of Sales must also be willing to travel for industry conferences and meetings.
