January 11, 2018 — ROOT Data Center, specializing in next-gen colocation that extends beyond security and reliability, announces today that its President and Chief Executive Officer, AJ Byers, and Vice President of International Business Development, Mike Segal, will speak at CAPRE’s Second Annual Greater Montréal and Quebec Data Center Summit, taking place at the Centre Mont‑Royal in Montréal.

On Wednesday, January 17, at 9:20 a.m., Mr. Byers will join executives from JLL, GI Partners, Kelvin Emtech, Goldman Sachs, Northern Investment Partners Inc., and Structure Research on the Canadian and Québec Data Center Leadership Panel, “A Big Picture Overview, and Making Sense of Recent M&A Activity, the Ins-And-Outs of Deals, and What It Means for the Industry.”  Mr. Byers, who has more than twenty years of experience in the data center industry, will discuss the impact of recent M&A activity on the data center industry, the role government tax incentives have on valuation and financing, and the evolution of data centers in the face of hyperscale demand.

At 1 p.m., Mr. Segal will join executives from Linkbynet Managed Services, Ericsson and IBM on the panel, “The End-User Approach to On-Prem, Hybrid, Private Cloud, Public Cloud, and Tomorrow’s Compute Needs and Initiatives.”  Mr. Segal, whose background and experience in the retail and wholesale data center industry spans North America, Asia, Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe, will discuss the economics and capabilities of the cloud with respect to workload applications, regulatory and compliance challenges related to cloud migration, and the issue of global data sovereignty for multinational enterprises.
