New Continuum Holdings Corporation, internet infrastructure provider and operator of New Continuum Data Centers recently announced the formation of N2Open Labs. The project was created in partnership with 20C, LLC, a developer of network and infrastructure management code. N2Open Labs will support new edge technologies, high-density power, GPU, ASIC and other new chip technologies. The project will also support automation, development and deployment of interoperable software across the physical and network layers of the internet infrastructure service stack.

Demands for customization in physical requirements, including power redundancies, cooling densities, geographic location and network performance, are growing. To meet these burgeoning industry needs, New Continuum and 20C are supporting the necessary internet infrastructure growth with this N2Open Lab development. Matt Griswold, founder of 20C and seasoned developer and automation advocate, will be serving as the project’s CTO. In this role, Griswold will be providing direction to the team and organization.

N2Open Labs’ projects will be sourced both from existing New Continuum and 20C customers, as well as solicit new submissions. The early initiatives of the lab will include leveraging New Continuum’s existing customer base to expand dark fiber mesh in support of unlimited capacity for the Chicago metro area. N2Open Labs will also utilize the efficient routing and distributed architecture of New Continuum’s network for various blockchains validator nodes. The project also plans to leverage several hundred kilowatts of existing GPU capacity through automation for various HPC applications. N2Open Labs is now accepting proposals for projects to be developed in New Continuum’s high-density data center and across its network and peering fabric. Proposals can be submitted through email at n2@newcontinuum.net.

Griswold, a long time proponent of open source automation and the primary developer of several automation tools, will also be leveraging his new project, ctl, showcasing its capabilities as a next-generation automation provider.

This project underpins New Continuum’s reputation as a leader in innovation and new technologies for multi-tenant data center services. Their flagship data center is Open-IX certified, and the company is also a member of both the Open19 Foundation and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. N2Open Labs serve as a formalization of the company’s mission and committed practice of supporting open source and commercially disruptive technologies to deliver savings and efficiencies to customers.
