PacketFabric, the highly scalable Connectivity-as-a-Service (CaaS) platform and member of the NantWorks ecosystem of companies, recently announced that it has teamed up with Hawaiki Submarine Cable LP to form a strategic partnership. The goal of the partnership is to provision secure and low-latency transpacific capacity on Hawaiki’s submarine cable system while extending the reach of PacketFabric’s Software-defined Network (SDN) platform into the Asia Pacific region.
Hawaiki’s transpacific cable, launched in 2018, is a 15,000 km fibre optic deep-sea, carrier-neutral cable. With a design capacity of 67 Tbps, this cable enables Hawaiki to be the fastest and largest capacity link that connects Australia and New Zealand to both Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. As part of the partnership, Hawaiki, headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand, will expand its reach, adding more than 150 locations on the PacketFabric network, allowing for instant connectivity to its ecosystem and global endpoints. This will enable Hawaiki to augment its current success by allowing for an extension of capacity services to anyone, everywhere on the PacketFabric network. New customers will be able to leverage quick and easy connection to the Hawaiki cable system, allowing for greater capacity and diversity across the Pacific.
