Though predictions about overall IoT growth tend to differ from report to report, one thing is clear: IoT growth over the next few years will be massive. In fact, according to Gartner, as many as 25 billion global connected devices will be in use by 2020—an increase of about 30 percent from 2014. With these figures in mind, it is anticipated that IoT growth will lead to several challenges for businesses as they struggle to handle increased network traffic and data volumes.
Such will be the topic at the highly anticipated DatacenterDynamics (DCD) As-A-Service conference in Chicago, October 27-28. This event will bring together business, technology and operations professionals from the cloud, colocation and telecom arenas, and will focus on strategizing for the future of the growing data center industry. On hand to deliver his industry expertise will be Gabe Cole, the newly appointed executive director for the Open-IX Association (OIX), who will sit in on two panel discussions.
