Record numbers of attendees are gathered at this week’s NANOG 61 conference, taking place at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, WA until Wednesday, June 4. Open-IX Association’s (OIX) Vice Chairman of the Board, Daniel Golding, and Co-Founder and Treasurer, Martin Hannigan, are amongst them. In addition to their roles at OIX, Mr. Golding also serves as the Vice President of Data Center Operations at Iron Mountain, while Mr. Hannigan is the head of Network and Data Architecture at Akamai Technologies, Inc.
Yesterday, the OIX representatives moderated the Datacenter Track, which returned to the NANOG agenda this year – bringing with it more technical content, two data center-specific presentations, and a data center development update with new sites and availability. At the end of the track, Mr. Golding and Mr. Hannigan provided a standards development update to the community.
OIX is a neutral, non-profit body of volunteers from the Internet community that aims to promote open, common and uniform standards for Internet connectivity, resiliency, interconnect, and security in order to reduce the complexity that restricts interconnection in fragmented markets. The complete list of OIX-certified IXPs and data centers, as well as those pending certification, can be found by visiting the Open-IX Certification Directory.
