Hybrid networks may be the new normal for enterprise wide area networks (WANs), but that doesn’t mean businesses are having an easy time managing them. The process is still complex, fragmented and inefficient as it requires identifying, contracting and managing services across multiple suppliers and product offerings.
One company that is helping businesses eliminate these complexities is Global Capacity, which was recently selected as a Preferred Provider by PlanetOne Communications, a connectivity partner for the IT and telecom industry.
Until recently, obtaining connectivity at the edge of the network was a complex and time-consuming ordeal. Recent advancements in the connectivity-as-a-service market, however, have made it much easier for enterprises to access leading cloud providers.
Connectivity as a service provider Global Capacity, for instance, recently announced its new Ethernet Multi-Cloud Connect service, a virtual network service from its award-winning One Marketplace software-defined network platform. The product, which was recognized by MEF as the Best Ethernet Service Innovation of 2016, offers enterprises a flexible way to build multiple cloud services across multiple locations in real time, from a single port.
Solving the Demand for Hybrid and SD-WAN Networking, and Providing Connectivity to Businesses Without Access to Fiber
For years, many telecom industry analysts have pointed to fiber as the future of internet access. The reality is that fiber-based services are available in only about a third of office buildings across the U.S., primarily in downtown metro areas or large corporate parks. This is because the economics of running fiber do not support geographies with more modest commercial building densities, which means that more than two thirds of businesses today have few options for acquiring high-speed internet access. But advancements in technology are allowing increases in data speeds as well as distances from carrier aggregation equipment when using copper wires, making Ethernet over Copper (EoC) more attractive for businesses, as well as a solution for the surge in demand for hybrid and SD-WAN networking.
Not all areas of the country have equal access to Ethernet, and for enterprise businesses in underserved regions, it can be very difficult to keep up with the competition.
Global Capacity, the leading connectivity as a service company, has solved this problem by expanding its One Marketplace™ network backbone with high-speed Ethernet that utilizes Ciena’s® 8700 Packetwave® Platform.
