The DE-CIX North America Media and Analyst Day that took place on Thursday, September 27 in New York, NY addressed several industry-hot topics, including the benefits of interconnection and how interconnectivity is changing the shape of the digital world. During this media event, Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX International discussed the company’s strategy and industry impact. Jim Davis, Founder and Principal Analyst at Edge Research presented about how interconnections shape the digital future. Executives from 1025Connect, Aqua Comms, Epsilon and PacketFabric discussed The Continental Edge.

Maximizing the benefits of interconnection

In Ivo’s presentation about DE-CIX International, he explained that the company creates, builds, and runs ecosystems throughout the world to maximize the benefits of interconnections, making network connectivity easy. Ivo described DE-CIX’s goal for 2020 which is to be in 20 global digital hubs, covering 65 percent of interconnection demand worldwide. Ivo further explained the key requirements of global digital hubs which include direct connectivity to at least two other continents, as well as network diversity and density. For example, New York is an ideal place to have interconnection and data centers, due to the following features: density of networks, international travel hub, accessibility, value and cost. In Europe, Frankfurt is the number one  interconnection hub on the continent, boasting meshed interconnection platform at over 20 sites connecting over 900 networks.

In an exclusive preview to participants, Ivo unveiled the Enterprise IX, which is an interconnection platform, partnering with professional associations and enterprises, dedicated to specific verticals:      

  • Private federation (selected networks only)     
  • Scalable distribution (local, regional, global)
  • Customized security standards
