WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (NYSE: DFT), a leading owner, developer, operator and manager of enterprise-class, carrier-neutral, large multi-tenant wholesale data centers, today announced that AMS-IX USA Inc., a subsidiary of AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange), has expanded its relationship with DFT by executing a Letter of Intent (LOI) to build and operate an AMS-IX Chicago Point-of-Presence (PoP) in DFT’s Chicago 2 (CH2) data center. Expected to be live in the third quarter of 2015, CH2 will be the only location in the Chicago suburbs to offer this service.

The addition of AMS-IX Chicago in DFT’s CH2 data center will provide DFT customers with the ability to exchange their IP traffic with other members on the distributed exchange in a stable, fast and cost-effective manner. AMS-IX Chicago builds on the neutral, member-owned and distributed principle of AMS-IX, which is the world’s largest Internet Exchange with more than 700 connected members and a peak Internet traffic rate close to 3.5 Tb/s.

“AMS-IX was considering a location outside of downtown Chicago, and we are pleased that they selected DFT, providing our customers peering options previously not available to them,” said Vinay Nagpal, DFT’s Director of Carrier Relations. “DFT’s customers at our existing CH1 data center and our new CH2 data center will be able to connect to the AMS-IX Chicago node using DFT’s underground conduit system and dark fiber.”
