Webair’s NY1 data center has long held the reputation for being the most secure, scalable and top-performing facility on Long Island. It is a Tier III-rated, SAS SSAE 16 and HIPAA-compliant facility with N+1 or better redundant cooling, connectivity and power, offering access to multiple entry points and carriers. To that end, Webair has announced that its NY1 data center has been awarded OPEN-IX® OIX-2 certification, making the facility the first and only U.S. data center on Long Island to meet the strict requirements of this globally recognized standard. The OIX-2 certification guarantees that NY1’s infrastructure reduces the complexity that restricts interconnection and enables the implementation of business-critical environments, international IP core networks or content platforms.
Originally a high-touch Managed Service Provider (MSP), what separates Webair from its competition is that it built the physical data center to offer customers reliable and secure Hybrid Cloud solutions. It has since grown into Long Island’s most secure, fully-redundant data center and the premier facility East of New York City for fully managed enterprise Colocation, Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions, Disaster Recovery and Managed Services. To date, the facility is also the only OIX-certified U.S. data center East of Manhattan offering access to transatlantic cable and Manhattan Bypass fiber, as well as a host of Internet exchanges and third-party cloud providers.
Sagi Brody, CTO of Webair, called the OIX-2 certification “a testament to Webair’s commitment to improve the landscape of Internet peering and interconnection.”
“At Webair, it is of the utmost importance for us to maintain the highest physical and operational standards throughout our data centers in order to facilitate greater interconnection and therefore progress within the Internet community. Our mission is to provide customers with advanced, open and neutral technical and human ecosystems along with fully managed space and power solutions that allow them to focus on their core business,” Brody added.
Open-IX is dedicated to increasing the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. The Association develops Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and has certified 30 data centers and 10 exchanges globally since its establishment in 2013.
