Will the Real Tim Cook Please Stand Up?

TimCookIT managers from New York to Silicon Valley are all asking the same question: would the real Tim Cook please stand up?  You might be asking the same thing.  So let’s take a look at these two men and make some comparisons to find out who is who.

On one coast, there is Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer at BlueOSS in Annapolis, MD.  Cook resides in the Washington, D.C. metro area and is currently the overseer of BlueOSS’ strategy and vision.  He spends the majority of his time influencing telecommunications companies on the ins-and-outs of the Cloud economy, the benefits of subscription-based billing models as well as Software-as-a-Service.  On the other coast, there is his ‘dopplenamer’, Tim Cook, Business Executive and CEO of Apple, Inc. and successor of the late Steve Jobs (sans the white beard and classic black turtleneck).

Service providers that support the next wave of cloud innovation must analyze their current subscription platforms to bill cloud services.  It is time to determine whether these platforms are capable of taking them into the Pay-as-you-Go (PayGo) economy.  Simply put, “subscription billing” is not, and will not, be sufficient enough to bill complex innovations developed from combining cloud services from multiple providers on a measured, PayGo pricing/billing plan.

BlueOSS Names Tim Cook as CEO

BOSSlogoBlueOSS recently announced the appointment of co-founder Tim Cook as Chief Executive Officer, hot on the heels of the company’s January 28th release declaring the official  launch of its fourth-generation Cloud Innovation Suite (CIS).

A seasoned telecommunications veteran, Cook brings 20+ years of enterprise sales, marketing, sales management and product management experience to the cloud billing and provisioning management tool provider, enabling him to lead the company into the growing cloud economy.

TimCookAs CEO and Co-founder of BlueOSS, Cook is responsible for setting and overseeing the company’s strategic vision, including the design and development of its Cloud Innovation Suite (CIS) and overall services portfolio as well as the development and execution of BlueOSS’ Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) sales and marketing strategies.  Cook will also continue his work as a cloud evangelist, helping customers make the move to subscription-based billing models as company’s continue to phase out yesterday’s complex billing structures.

Prior to BlueOSS, Cook served as Vice President at Votela, where he oversaw the company’s channel development and channel sales operations.  From 2005-2009, Cook held the position of Director of Sales at Force 3a leading provider of IT solutions and support services to the Federal Government.  During his tenure, he was responsible for building and growing Force 3 Systems, a new entity serving the Washington, D.C./Baltimore metro area.
