HWTrek (Hardware Trek) recently announced it will be hosting its Asia Innovation Tour April 8-9, 2014 in Taipei and April 11-12, 2014 in Beijing, China. The company will award 15 lucky innovators with round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and the opportunity to experience the manufacturing sector of China firsthand. The deadline for the application is March 23, 2014.
The tour provides inventors of wearables and Internet of Things with the opportunity to visit the facilities and see the assembly lines of prominent manufacturers and suppliers in Taiwan and China, including those that build products for technology leaders such as Apple, Sony and Nest. In order to be considered, all hardware creators and startup organizations must present a simple, working prototype of wearables and Internet of Things hardware inventions. These working prototypes must also fall under one of the following categories:
- Industrial Applications
- Toys / Games
- Cameras / Audio & Video
- Family / Home Automation
- Mobile Device Accessories
- Health and Science

HWTrek Streamlines Go-to-Market Process for Inventors by Releasing its 2014 RFQ Tool and Crowdfunding Guide
2014 is slated to be a groundbreaking year for the consumer hardware market. With a wide ranging support program that features its open and neutral consumer electronics community platform, HWTrek (Hardware Trek) provides aspiring startups and inventors with expert guidance, end-to-end support and access to investors in order to help foster innovation and bring next-generation inventions to market.
The global community for digital electronics recently published its Request for Quotation (RFQ) Tool and comprehensive Crowdfunding Guide. Both tools are an essential part of HWTrek’s community platform, streamlining the RFQ process and providing best practices for successful crowdfunding campaigns to bring consumer electronics concepts to fruition.
Learn a New Approach on How Crowdfunded Hardware Is Made with HWTrek During the Internet of Things Berlin MeetUp on February 19
HWTrek, a global community for digital electronics, is kicking off 2014 by sponsoring its first international MeetUp on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 PM in Berlin, Germany.
Join HWTrek’s Project Mentor Martin Feuerhahn at the Internet of Things Berlin MeetUp, taking place at the IXDS facility, located at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39/40 in Berlin, as he speaks on how HWTrek’s community platform is changing the way crowdfunded hardware is brought to market.
This discussion is targeted at hardware inventors in the following categories:
- Family and Home Automation
- Mobile Device Accessories
who are seeking expert advice on their prototypes, understanding how the manufacturing process works and how to get their idea funded. Martin will also demonstrate how HWTrek experts can help inventors find the right key components or module boards they need to make their products.
MeetUps are one way HWTrek is demonstrating its commitment in helping inventors’ ideas come to life. In addition to funding, HWTrek also helps inventors bring products to market through its exclusive partnerships with over 130 HWTrek experts from top manufacturers in Asia (the same ODMs/OEMs that manufacture products for Apple, Sony, Nest, etc.), providing inventors the ability to partner with them early in the process to successfully build their connected devices/hardware.
To further promote entrepreneurialism, HWTrek has also teamed with Taiwan Mobile Innovation incubator (TMI), launching a hardware accelerator program that generates funding to help launch startups.

HWTrek is revolutionizing the way hardware is brought to market. The company recently announced the debut of its enhanced community platform – an easy-to-use, open and neutral digital medium that unites hardware inventors, design and manufacturing experts and financial backers to foster innovation and cross-functional communication in order to bring next-generation hardware dreams to fruition. The global platform is specifically designed to provide its participating individuals and companies with the tools necessary to achieve their goals, while also offering an opportunity for its network on industry experts to showcase and demo their solutions; examples of these include xBeacon and the Zigbee Solution.
The HWTrek community platform simplifies the go to market process for inventors in the consumer hardware space, helping them to develop, fund and showcase their latest technologies and solutions. Participating inventors in the wearable, sports, toys/games, cameras/AV, family and home automation, mobile device accessories, auto, health and science categories can leverage HWTrek’s platform to bring their ideas to reality in five simple steps: create, collaborate, source, crowdfund and build.
After submitting an innovative idea, inventors can leverage HWTrek’s direct channels to access successful executives in technology design, marketing and intellectual property, as well as 130+ HWTrek experts from top manufacturers in Asia, to collaborate on product design, production costs, materials, and more. Inventors can then work with the expert community to create successful crowdfunding campaigns that allow them access to capital to fund the cost of building the invention through local venture capitalists, seed capital or pre-A funding. Once inventors have reached their funding goals, they can once again collaborate with community to build and trademark their products.
Over 400 hardware designs have been featured on HWTrek’s innovative platform since its initial launch in September 2013; and in the wake of the platform’s success, many have flourished. One example is BeLuvv, who leveraged the platform to successfully raise $11,235, 113% of its target funding goal, for its wearable device called Guardian.
