Three new Board of Directors members will be welcomed by the Open-IX Association this Friday, October 2 during OIXA Annual General Meeting at Intergate. Manhattan. Comprised of volunteer representatives from the Internet community, the Open-IX board converges to create a better, safer, stronger, and fairer Internet. Here’s a brief overview of the responsibilities with which board members are tasked:
Global data center IP traffic is expected to reach seven zettabytes per year by 2017. As the Internet grows, it has become incumbent upon the entire Internet community to overcome the connectivity, resiliency and security challenges that have arisen from its proliferation. The Open-IX Association is one of the organizations leading the charge. Open-IX establishes consensus-based standards that not only ensure performance, reliability and security for data centers and interconnection exchanges, but that in effect protect the lifeblood and future growth of a global economy.
In this two part series, you will see some of the biggest headlines that emerged from the event. Be sure to check out Part 1 here.
Open-IX Association: OPEN-IX® announced its participation at the UK Network Operators’ Forum. The association also revealed plans for its first-ever Americas International Summit, taking place April 7-9, 2015 in San Diego. The event will converge the industry’s ISPs, CDNs, content providers, and data center and IX operators, as well as network software and hardware suppliers for three days of one-on-one and small group meetings, networking events, and engaging panels and presentations covering current topics in peering and interconnection.
As the Open-IX Association continues to grow and gain notoriety within the industry, it becomes increasingly important to protect their brand and reserve their certifications and standards for only compliant Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and data centers across the nation. In order to maintain the integrity of the institution and its standards, “OPEN-IX®” is now officially a registered trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
